What is Real Food?

Have you ever wondered what people mean when they talk about Real Food?  If you read my blog you will hear me talk about it quite a lot.  If you know me you know I’m all about simplifying, and to me Real Food is just another extension of simplification.

“Food” is complicated.

You want food, so you go to the grocery store.  Sure.  There is food there…but mostly, there is “food” there.  “Food” is something that started it’s life as real food…but somewhere between the fields and the grocery shelf it got so heavily processed, denatured and mixed with petroleum derived additiveswood pulp, msg, artificial sweeteners and other toxic chemicals that it can no longer be considered real food.  That is, if it even started as real food at all.  If your food has corn or soy in it (which the vast majority of processed foods do) it is likely genetically modified as well.  Talk about complicated!

Real Food is Simple.

Real Food is food that has been around since the beginning of time.  It is food that a person can watch grow from seedling to plate.  It is food that comes from a healthy, clean animal that has been raised in a healthy, humane environment.  It is food that can be gathered, caught, raised or grown free from modern technology.

Real food brings nourishment to our bodies.  We must eat food to get the nutrients necessary to live.  When we eat processed “food” we are filling our tummies, but we are not nourishing our bodies.  Sure the “food” might be fortified or enriched with synthetic, man-made vitamins, but why not just get the REAL vitamins and minerals that are available in high quality, God-made, natural, organic Real Food?

Real Food is for You!

I’m going to be spending the next few weeks talking about how to get more Real Foods in our diets.  We will talk about everything from where to find it, how to afford it and ways to prepare it with recipes.  And of course, being that my goal is to simplify, simplify, simplify, we will talk about how to incorporate Real Foods into your life in the simplest ways in order to avoid getting overwhelmed.

Make sure to subscribe to my blog (in the upper right of this page) and “like” me on Facebook so you don’t miss out on the discussion.
