Luxurious (and Simple) Whipped Shea Butter

Ahhh….what could be better than a light, fluffy whipped body butter? It feels so luxurious to use. Did you know that it is inexpensive and simple to make yourself?
I’ve tried my hand at whipped shea butter recipes before and most of them are all kinds of trouble. Temperature measuring, heating, quick cooling….bowl back and forth from the mixer to the freezer numerous times. Ugh! That’s way too much fuss for me.
I had pretty much given up on whipped butters and then I came across this recipe from The Soap Queen. Jackpot!! I was so excited that one could actually make a whipped shea butter without all the hassle. And surprisingly there is none of the “grainy” texture that is the big worry with the old heat and quick cool method. Thank you, thank you to the Soap Queen for sharing this super simple recipe. My skin is reaping the rewards.
Luxurious (and Simple) Whipped Shea Butter Recipe
(You can find The Soap Queen’s original recipe on her website here. I tweaked it a little to suit my preferences.)
7 oz Unrefined Shea Butter
2.5 oz Tropical Traditions Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil
30 to 40 drops of doTERRA Essential Oil (I used Serenity and Lavender)
Instructions
Do not melt the Shea Butter or Coconut Oil. Just place in a bowl and start mixing with an electric mixer. Mix on med/high for about 7 or 8 minutes, or until it is a nice creamy fluff. Add the essential oils in near the end of the mixing time. That’s it! So easy!
**Note: Unrefined Shea Butter has a strong scent. You may need extra essential oils to compensate if the natural shea scent is unfavorable to you. If you prefer no scent other than the fragrance of your essential oils, you can use refined shea butter instead.

I bet you they smell divine!
Mmmm…Serenity is one of my absolute favorites.
